2020 has become a focal point in all our lives due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. People are thinking about how this pandemic would play out, and it’s making them look into their medical plans.

Many people get their health coverage from Original Medicare; some opt for Medicare Advantage (MA) Plan. In this article, we’ll get you acquainted with the types and benefits of Medicare Advantage.
What is Medicare Advantage?
Also called Medicare private health plan or Part C, MA Plan is an insurance substitute for Medicare. People with this kind of Medicare will have to pay a smaller premium than Original Medicare plan holders. The plan is offered by private insurance companies and covers the following:
  • Hospital-related concerns – include home healthcare, hospice care, and visits to the hospital.
  • Laboratory- and medical-related concerns – this coverage includes diagnostic tests, preventive and treatment-related services.
  • Drug prescription – this coverage helps you fund your medication.
  • Vision, dental, and hearing concerns – includes annual screenings and check-ups and some assistive equipment.
  • Other medical perks – this coverage may comprise other services like fitness memberships.

Types of Medicare Advantage Plans
When choosing Medicare Advantage, you must first learn about the different types. MA Plans are categorized as follows:
  • Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) – this kind of MA Plan uses referrals for specialists and in-network.
  • Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) – PPO has different rates with in-network and out-of-network services.
  • Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) – as its name implies, PFFS charge depending on what service an individual gets.
  • Special Needs Plans (SNP) – this kind of MA Plan assists with medical costs for long-term chronic conditions.
  • Medical Savings Account (MSA) – this kind of plan is a savings account with high deductible health plans.

Benefits of Medicare Advantage
Most of us want to get the most out of the things we bought. This also applies when picking medical plans; that is why we want one with the most benefits. In contrast to the Original Medicare, MA Plan can benefit us more. To give you a clearer picture, here are some of the benefits of a Medicare Advantage Plan:
  • Customizable plan – people can personalize their plans according to their current situation.
  • Broader coverage – while Original Medicare has a limited scope, MA Plans can cover almost all medical and health services.
  • Saves money – research shows that medical equipment and laboratory tests cost less when you’re under a MA Plan.

Final Words
All in all, Medicare Advantage lets people choose whatever type they want. Moreover, it offers extensive coverage to its plan holders, which gives them comfort and peace of mind.

It's a great thing that you elaborated here the medicare will cover the patient's medication. I also never knew that the SNP is a type of plan that will help assist patients with long term chronic conditions. Well, my mother has been planning to apply for medicare because she heard that this may help pay her expensive medical bills in the future.

It's interesting when you said that Medicare insurance could provide the healthcare assistance that every elder needs. As we moved to our current area, my godmother told me she was hoping to find assistance that could help her with her medical health plans because of her weekly checkup. You did an excellent job explaining how a medicare insurance agency can help her with her planning, I'll share this with her.
